Day 31 - May 10, 2008 - Journal Entry

Oy with the humidity! We walked to the Planetarium - we were dripping wet - I'm not sure what was sweat and what was just moisture in the air. It was hard to breath, I felt like I was breathing water. But the planetarium was awesome! I got a little dizzy as we learned about black holes. Then we watched an IMAX presentation about Mummies. I want to go to Egypt and see all that cool stuff.

We walked back home - again with the moisture, napped and then changed into nice clothes and went to the Institute. Isaac fed us and we talked about investigators and ways for the ward to help us. Good meeting - I get to call home tomorrow! I love my family

E-mail May 10, 2008

We are on our way to the Planetarium, there is a presentation on Black Holes and then run over to the IMAX and learn about mummies. The mailman can put the package in a locked box and put the key in our mail slot so it is safe to send stuff. I'll talk to you tomorrow. Love, Kelli

(Note from mom - we talked to Kelli for about 1 1/2 hours, I recorded it if anyone wants to listen)

Day 30 - May 9, 2008 - Journal Entry

One down - 17 to go. It's my one month anniversary today! We spent the morning at Lauren McFarlen's tennis match. Those girls are strong and grunt a lot. All 7 missionaries were there to support her and she won! Coincidence - I think not!

After that Casey took all of us to the Mall to contact there because the campus was dead, but unfortunately the Mall was too. We only had 3 good contacts. We walked through Barnes & Noble - that was painful - I not only saw books - but I could smell them. I love the smell of books! Anyway, I saw Stephanie Meyers Book "The Host", it was hard to walk away.

We went to the Institute, the Beacutt's made an incredible roast for us - it was delicious! Then we planned for next week. End of 1st month of service. I spoke to soon - Br. Beaucutt called - the Institute was unlocked, we went over to lock up, it was dark and a little creepy, it reminded me of Idaho walking back from the movies. I wanted to call mom.

Day 29 - May 8, 2008 - Journal Entry

I met my first crazy person today. Chrystal was angry because in the Bible it says not to worship images. We had a booth set up @ TCC with pictures of Christ on display, Chrystal interpreted it to mean we worshiped the picture of Christ. We just sat there and nodded our heads. We did interrupt once to input some logic, she ranted more, we decided to keep our mouths shut. After awhile she left and we laughed and straightened our pictures and adjusted them so they were more prominent. About 1/2 an hour later Chrystal came back to talk at us and testify that she had seen Christ - it was interesting.

Tom was baptized today! It was beautiful and it was Elders Cosby and Durfy's first baptism. Durfy spoke about the Restoration and did a great job. It was a long day, I'm tired and I'm going to bed.

Day 28 - May 7, 2008 - Journal Entry

Sister Smith woke up sick. We stayed in till 2:30, then we went to the Ronald McDonald House. I got to sweep and hose down the front and back porch. I had a great time.

Melanie was with us, we were able to talk with her while cleaning. After that we went back to the Institute and I watched "The Restoration" and "Finding Faith in Christ", the theory behind this is that when I recommend them to people I can honestly say that I've seen them. I like them.

It was strange watching those movies, if you look at them very analytically they are terrible, the acting and cinematography are bad and boring. But the spirit is so strong you are touched and my brain knows that it's really cheesy and stagnant, but my heart is happy and doing flips of joy - telling me it's the best movie ever. Yea for the spirit.

Oh, today I found out that Sister Smith loves Firefly and Serenity. She's not a Browncoat, but she knows all about it and loves it.

We jumped on the beds while singing High School Musical "Soaring" oops, I mean "Breaking Free". It's awesome - I recommend it to everyone. Till tomorrow.

Day 27 - May 6, 2008 - Journal Entry

We had district meeting today . Elder Cosby taught about the Book of Mormon. It was a good lesson about 1 and 1/2 hours, then we met the whole zone and made Brunch. I was in charge of pancakes and I did an excellent job if I do say so myself.

After we went to FSU and wandered around, we ended up in the book store and if that's not torture I don't know what is. But I found an awesome Mothers Day card and got it mailed off. (It was very, very awesome - Mom)

Casey took us out to dinner and dropped us off @ TCC again. We had a hard time getting to talk to people. Made one good contact, will have to wait and see if anything happens. Kanode didn't show up again, we will try one more time and then drop it.

My feet are killing me, I'm going to start switching shoes in the middle of the day.

Day 26 - May 5, 2008 - Journal Entry

Went running this morning. Went to campus and emailed President and family. Kendall took us to Wal-Mart - we stalked up and got a lot done. Went to FHE at Candice's, she had her elementary teacher come and talk about life and how to keep everything balanced.

Something cool - Stacy's sister Stephanie White looked so familiar to me. She lives in Logan Utah and I didn't think I'd seen her there but it turns out she and her husband lived with the Brinton's for a while. Small world huh?

E-mail - May 5, 2008

Our official P-day is Saturday, but we have to write President letters on Monday and we have permission to write family then too. Lucky you! As long as I am in Tallahassee you get two letters. I'm so glad you two (mom & dad) are teaching Sunday School together. You balance each other out - I bet it was a wonderful lesson. I go to Gospel Principles on Sunday with investigators and recent converts, the lesson was on faith. I like how we can make very complicated things simple - but the simple and profound truths resonate more than deep thoughts sometimes.

I actually love working in a trio. We are all very alike and get along fine. Sister Smith trained Sister Benfield when she came out and now they are both training me. Bathrooms not too bad - it's the kitchen where we get in each others way. Which reminds me, we're going to the grocery store today and I will be sure to pick up some mole skin there.

Thanks for looking into my camera, I have been promised several CD's with pictures from the MTC - it will be good. I miss my camera. Saturday after Stacie's baptism we went out to her house to clean up for the party, she lives above a barn. We cleaned out spiderwebs and hay. We also met Teancum. Teancum is a wonderful horse - I fed and played with him for a while, we also got permission from President to go for rides, it was awesome! He is so strong, I was riding bareback, he was on a lead but I could feel the muscles in his back shifting under me - it was incredible. Luckily Sister Benfield got pictures of me and Teancum.

It's not safe to lock your bike up here, we keep them in the apartment. If you don't unhook everything and carry it around with us someone will relieve us of things like seat and tire if we leaved them locked up - so we just don't bother.

I don't know when, but I will get copies of my journal to you. I'll work it out someway. I love both of you so much - thank you for your letters, it's good to know what you are up to. All my love, Sister Kelli Wilcox

Day 25 - May 4, 2008 - Journal Entry

Sunday - we had meetings before church and met lots of people. I'm struggling to remember names. I'll get it. We planned a lot - got most of the week wrapped up.

None of our investigators came to church, but the Elders investigator, Tom, is going to be baptized Thursday. Tom has a twin brother, he wants to take the lessons too.

Kind of a boring day really, discussed Smallville with Elder Hill. Went to CES Fireside, Russell M. Nelson spoke on music, it was good but very mellow. Yeah that was my day.
